Main Stages

1. From Laghi Gemelli to Lago di Sardegnana:

• Leaving Rifugio Laghi Gemelli (1961 m), the trail begins a gentle descent towards the picturesque Lago delle Casere. After crossing a rustic little bridge, you start a short ascent towards Lago Marcio. You follow the western shore of Lago Marcio, admiring its clear waters and the reflections of the surrounding mountains, until reaching the dam. The descent continues below the dam's barrier, following a series of switchbacks that lead to a fork. Here, you meet trail 211, which descends towards Carona, but you keep right, following the route that heads towards a vertical rocky wall. This section, while potentially intimidating, is equipped with exposed passages carved into the rock and small bridges that make it easily and safely passable. After passing the rocky wall, you enter an enchanted forest, where the vegetation creates an evocative atmosphere. After crossing a small valley, you reach the tranquil Lago di Sardegnana (1735 m).

2. From Lago di Sardegnana to Dosso dei Signori:

• You cross the Lago di Sardegnana dam and begin an ascent along the wooded slope, passing next to the guardians' house. The trail continues to climb with a series of switchbacks, until reaching an altitude of approximately 1900 meters. From here, the route becomes flat and leads to Dosso dei Signori, a panoramic point where you intersect with trail 247, which descends towards Pagliari. You continue by crossing the Valle dei Frati, where you intersect with trail 236, which ascends towards Passo d'Aviasco.

3. From Valle dei Frati to Rifugio Calvi:

• After crossing a stream, the ascent resumes, reaching the carriage road that climbs from Carona. The road quickly leads to the evocative Lago di Fregabolgia. After admiring the lake and its dam, you follow a comfortable trail that runs along the lake's edge, until reaching the Rifugio Fratelli Calvi (2050 m), which stands out on the horizon.
